The popular LGBTQ dating app Grindr is getting its own original scripted TV show set to air this fall.
Bridesman will be a new scripted comedy series following a gay bridesman as he undermines his best friend’s wedding. Each episode will be around six to 10 minutes and will be available on YouTube as well as the Grindr app itself.
The series was created by John Onieal and will star Jimmy Fowlie, Sydnee Washington and Shannon Devido.
Alex Black, director of marketing for Grindr, said that the show is “tailor-made” for the Grindr community because its “smart, queer, campy and features sharp commentary on gay dating”.
This isn’t the first time a dating site has launched a series. In 2019 Tindr released a post-apocalyptic mini-series with interactive elements called Swipe Right.
The same year Scruff, another LGBTQ dating app, debuted Hosting, a live trivia quiz show.
Production on Bridesman is set to begin this month and will air in the fall of 2021.
