Suspected gunman with pipebombs arrested in Santa Monica, West Hollywood bound

A gunman who had ‘dozens of pipebombs” has been arrested at the corner of Santa Monica and Olympic Blvd. He had camouflage clothing, clips, assault rifles taped together, knives, other explosives and accelerants in his car.  The FBI is now taking over the investigation from the Santa Monica authorities who arrested him.

The suspect told police that he had driven here from Indiana and was going to attend LA Pride parade.

A city official in West Hollywood also confirmed the arrest and stressed that officials were beefing up security at the gay pride event.

LA Pride organizers, West Hollywood Mayor Lauren Meister and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti held a news conference and declared that the parade would go on.
