Film Almost Triples Distribution on Heels of Oscar Win

 

The locally owned Los Angeles media company A24, is nearly tripling its domestic distribution of ‘Moonlight’ after the film nabbed the Best Picture award at the Academy Awards ceremony on Feb. 26.

The film, which garnered eight Academy Award nominations and won an additional two Oscars: Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali, and Adapted Screenplay, will now be screened in 1,500 theaters across the country, reports Variety.

To date, the movie had been shown domestically in 1,104 cinemas over the course of 20 weeks.
