CALENDAR 3/8 – 3/30: The best goings-on around and about L.A., period.

Letter Writing for Lesbian, Bi, & Queer Women’s Health

  • When: Sunday, March 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Where: LGBT Center, 1220 N. Highland, L.A.
  • What: We have the opportunity to tell our state legislators that we need to prioritize LBQ women’s health. We are going to demand that California create the Lesbian, Bisexual, and Queer Women’s Health Equity Fund.
  • Why: Lesbian, bisexual, & queer (LBQ) in California face significant barriers accessing primary health care, including experiencing homophobia and biphobia. LBQ women lack access to culturally appropriate health care, low insurance coverage, mental health services, and life-saving preventative services like mammograms and other cancer screenings. There are currently no targeted state funds to address the health needs of LBQ women in California

Send Noodz

  • When: Sunday, March 10 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Where: The OffBeat
  • What: an Asain/Pacific Islander drag event
  • Why: We noticed a lack of community and representation for API drag artists, AND THUS SEND NOODZ WAS BORN! We are out here celebrating API drag artists here in LA and creating a safe space for unapologetic QPOC expression!

AIDS/LifeCycle partners with Hollywood Boulders

  • When: Monday, March 11 from 7 – 10p.m.
  • Where: Hollywood Boulders, Los Angeles
  • What: Rock Climbing night with AIDS/Lifecycle
  • Why: To raise awareness about the Ride as well as introduce the community to another way of staying fit!

WeHo Reads: Jacob Tobia

  • When: Wednesday, March 13 from 7 – 9 p.m.
  • Where: West Hollywood City Council Chambers
  • What: A reading and meet and greet with the author of “Sissy: A Coming of Gender Story,” Jacob Tobia.
  • Why: Who wouldn’t want to meet the author of A heart-wrenching, eye-opening, and giggle-inducing memoir about what it’s like to grow up not sure if you’re (a) a boy, (b) a girl, (c) something in between, or (d) all of the above.

The 2019 Black & White Ball

  • When: Saturday, March 30 from 6 – 11 p.m.
  • Where: Long Beach Convention Center
  • What: LGBTQ Center of Long Beach’s highly anticipating fundraising event
  • Why: he Black and White Ball presents guests with an evening of elegance and sophistication in the spirit of celebrating the LGBTQ community’s many accomplishments. Having sold out every year, The Black and White Ball is expected to break attendance records yet again. Guests will experience an evening featuring champagne greeting, live music, exclusive silent auction, dinner, dancing, and four Center Icon Awards.
