Immerse yourself in the different cultures

Because one of the purposes of travel is to immerse yourself in the local culture, you must know how to do it properly. It would be best not to surround yourself with familiar things and instead jump into the unknown, as you don’t know what pleasant experiences will be waiting for you this way. To do so, you should research before arriving at a new destination because you will know what to expect and what activities you can attend. Depending on your location, you will experience a strong culture shock the further you go from home, so be ready and embrace it, as you will learn many things from it about yourself and others. The good idea is to avoid the areas that are very famous for tourists, because in this way, you can visit the zones where the locals live, and there you will find the true face of each city. Also, it would be good to learn the language of the place you are exploring. And no, you shouldn’t know it overnight or achieve a C2 level fluency, but searching for some phrases can help in case the locals don’t speak a foreign language. In this way, you can start conversations more easily, as people are more open to talking to you if they see you trying to speak their language.

Meet locals

Meeting locals will bring lots of advantages to your travel and your life, as you will build confidence, practise some languages you are not speaking every day and make lifetime friends. And what can happen if you start talking with a local? In the worst case, you will meet a rejection to participate in a conversation, but you can also find the person that will make your travel better. Plus, meeting locals will open the doors to new opportunities, as you can receive invitations to participate in family events, where you will see their customs, eat homemade food and discover how a family from another country behaves. You are also more likely to appreciate the place more if you meet someone there, as you will connect the area with the person, and the next time you revisit the country, you always know you can count on someone.

Be open to experiencing new things

Whether going on a hot air balloon in Cappadocia, hiking in Austria, or skydiving in Hawaii, you should always be open to embracing new experiences. Every place has something unique and amazing, and you will enjoy your time a lot more if you do something you would not normally do at home. Because travelling can be tiring after walking all day and going through a roller coaster of emotions, trying new alternatives to improve the time spent there can be useful. For example, you can try the white widows strain, a good option among cannabis enthusiasts because it benefits your body and mind, gives you more energy, increases euphoria, and reduces fatigue. If you want to return with some at home or want your friends to try it, you can bring some feminised seeds to enjoy its advantages even after the trip ends.

Try local delicacies

Trying local dishes is a great way to immerse in local gastronomy because, through it, you will also get a glimpse into the history and culture of the destination, and in this way, you will understand better the area you are visiting and the people from there. For example, when you are in Italy, you will see that the food is highly influenced by the fact that the country was a maritime republic in the past, which is why they have so many dishes with seafood. In Austria or Switzerland, as the temperature is cold during winter, you will discover that the local specialties are mainly meat-based because they are meant to sustain people during that time of the year. Also, you will be surprised to find out that some of the dishes that are so representative of a region don’t come from there. Did you know that the British soldiers brought fish and chips from France during World War II? Like this example, there are several more, so if you think the main national dishes from different countries were made in the same place, you might be wrong. Immigrants also greatly impact the local food, as they bring new ingredients and flavours that can become part of the national identity, as was the case with the Lebanese, Afghan or Persian cuisines.

Final words

You can enjoy your time more when travelling in several ways, but always remember to have fun. So, it might be a good idea not to check all the tourist attractions and instead visit the places important for locals, as you can immerse yourself better in a new culture this way.
