West Hollywood’s poet laureate Brian Sonia-Wallace and the Pride Poets team will be writing free custom poems this weekend in celebration of LA Pride.
Part of WeHo’s One City One Pride festival twenty Pride Poets, a few of whom include Brian Sonia-Wallace, D.R. Baker, Nate’Eya Kahsai, Michael Narkunski and Jireh Deng, bring completely different writing styles and perspectives to the public. It’s estimated the poets will write about 14 poems per hour today through Sunday, during the hotline’s operating hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
According to the Pride Poets website people who call will speak to a poet, have a poem written and receive a copy via email or email. The process takes about 10 minutes and will change your day.
“Our goal is to write 500 poems! For each call you make up to 500 calls, our anonymous donor will contribute $15 to the LA LGBT Center, which provides services for more LGBT people than any other organization in the world.”
Call the Pride Hotline 202-998-3510 to speak to a poet or visit www.weho.org/pride or www.pridepoets.com for more info.
