Forty years ago, politician and LGBTQ+ advocate Harvey Milk’s iconic journey was tragically ended.
The generation of out LGBTQ+ leaders he inspired went on to transform the world we live in, not only here in the U.S. but globally, too. UNC-Chapel Hill Professor of Political Science Andrew Reynolds, has documented this history through the epic stories of courageous political candidates and elected officials around the world who shattered stereotypes to transform politics and society.
Los Angeles LGBT Center is hosting a special event on January 9 at Renberg Theatre at the Center to launch Reynolds’ new book, “The Children of Harvey Milk: How LGBTQ Politicians Changed the World.”
Reynolds will speak to the visibility of LGBTQ politicians, and will continue with a panel featuring Mayor John Duran, Irish Senator Fintan Warfield, and other local elected officials. The panel will be moderated by Zackary Drucker, producer of the TV show Transparent.
Skylight Books will also be selling copies at the event. For more information, visit the Children of Harvey Milk website HERE.
