With a heatwave rolling through the greater Los Angeles area this week, the City of West Hollywood has opened a cooling center at Plummer’s Park Community Center Senior Lounge at 7377 Santa Monica Blvd from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Local residents can also visit the West Hollywood Library, which serves as a Los Angeles County Cooling Center, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday.
The City wants to remind everyone that high heat is not only uncomfortable, but dangerous too. Residents should take the following precautions as temperatures reach up to 95 degrees this week:
- Stay out of the sun as much as possible
- Avoid strenuous activity
- Drink plenty of water
- Wear lightweight clothing
* Do not leave kids or pets in parked vehicles under any circumstances *
