West Hollywood Celebrates Women’s History Month with Citywide Events and Discussions

Month-Long Celebration With Panels, Leadership Awards, and Special Tributes

The City of West Hollywood will celebrate National Women’s History Month this March with a series of events honoring women’s contributions to history, culture, and community leadership.

The celebration officially began with a Women’s History Month Proclamation at the West Hollywood City Council meeting on Monday, March 3. You can watch it via WeHoTV at www.weho.org/wehotv and on YouTube at www.youtube.com/wehotv.

Citywide Tributes and Public Displays

From March 4 through March 22, the globe lanterns above Santa Monica Boulevard will glow purple and gold, the colors of the women’s suffrage movement. Throughout the month, street pole banners honoring women leaders, activists, and cultural icons will be displayed along Santa Monica Boulevard. New additions this year include visual artist and community leader Dr. Judith F. Baca and actress, producer, and author Jamie Lee Curtis.

Herstory Awards & Reception

Thursday, March 13, 2025 | 7 p.m.
West Hollywood Aquatic and Recreation Center (625 N. San Vicente Blvd.)
The City and its Women’s Advisory Board will co-sponsor the Herstory Awards, hosted by the Hollywood Chapter of the National Organization for Women (Hollywood NOW), honoring Yola Dore, a prominent local community leader.

West Hollywood V-DAY & One Billion Rising

Friday, March 14, 2025 | 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
West Hollywood City Council Chambers (625 N. San Vicente Blvd.)
This annual event, inspired by Eve Ensler’s V-DAY movement, will focus on the Rise for Freedom theme, featuring guest speakers, short films by women filmmakers, and a reception.

 WeHo Reads: Feminism and Fearlessness

Wednesday, March 19, 2025 | 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Online – Available on WeHo Arts YouTube Channel
This virtual literary panel and discussion will feature authors Katya Apekina, Olga García Echeverría, Angelina Sáenz, and Kate Stayman-London, who will share their perspectives on feminism and fearless creativity.

28th Annual Women in Leadership Awards
Wednesday, March 26, 2025 | 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Andaz West Hollywood (8401 Sunset Blvd.)
Honoring women leaders across various industries, this event is co-hosted by the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Admission is $25, and RSVPs can be made at www.weho.org/whm.

Sexual Healing: Age Positive, Sex Positive
Sunday, March 30, 2025 | 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
West Hollywood Aquatic and Recreation Center (625 N. San Vicente Blvd.)
A sex-positive and age-inclusive discussion led by health experts on topics including reproductive health, menopause, and sexual wellness.
