Help Shape the Future of Hart Park, Attend West Hollywood’s Public Meetings in February

WeHo Seeks Community Input on ADA Upgrades, Dog Park, and Safety Enhancements

The City of West Hollywood is inviting community members to attend public meetings in February to discuss planned improvements for William S. Hart Park & Off-Leash Dog Park. The Phase 1 Improvements Project aims to upgrade accessibility throughout the park to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the California Building Code while also enhancing the off-leash dog area, parking lot, lighting, and security.

Residents will have the opportunity to learn more and provide feedback at the following meetings:

  • Public Facilities, Recreation, and Infrastructure Commission Meeting – Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the West Hollywood City Hall Community Meeting Room, 8300 Santa Monica Blvd.
  • Older Adults Advisory Board Meeting – Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the West Hollywood City Hall Community Meeting Room, 8300 Santa Monica Blvd.
  • Disabilities Advisory Board Meeting – Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Plummer Park Community Center, Rooms 5 and 6, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd.

During these meetings, city officials and the project’s consultant team will provide updates on the design progress, gather community input, and incorporate recommendations from various boards and commissions. A final schematic design will then be presented to the West Hollywood City Council for review.

The improvement plan follows previous community outreach and City Council discussions. In April 2023, the council reviewed initial recommendations and a conceptual plan. In September 2024, it approved a professional services contract for design and engineering, directing staff to evaluate surface options for the off-leash dog area.

Key upgrades in Phase 1 include:

  • Enhancing pedestrian pathways and removing accessibility barriers identified in a Certified Access Specialist (CASp) report.
  • Redesigning the parking area to improve accessibility and functionality.
  • Reconfiguring the off-leash dog area to include separate play areas for small and large dogs based on community feedback.
