Naloxone and Fentanyl Test Strips Are Available With No Payment or ID
In response to a rise in fentanyl and opioid-related overdoses, the Los Angeles County Library system is offering free doses of Naloxone (Narcan) and fentanyl testing strips in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the California Department of Health Care Services.
Library patrons can pick up a free dose of Naloxone, a life-saving medication that reverses opioid overdoses, including those caused by heroin, fentanyl, and prescription opioids, on Wednesday, February 5, between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Fentanyl testing strips, which detect the presence of the powerful synthetic opioid in drugs, are also available to help reduce the risk of overdose.
No identification, proof of insurance, or payment is required. Patrons must complete a brief video training on how to administer Naloxone before receiving their free dose. Supplies are limited to one per person and will be distributed while available.
