Film Studio Moves to a Historic Hollywood Landmark With Modern Upgrades.
Miramax, the independent film, television, and distribution studio, is relocating its headquarters from Century City to West Hollywood.
The company has leased 16,000 square feet of office space at The Lot at Formosa, a campus owned by Mid-City developer CIM Group. Originally constructed in 1918, The Lot spans several acres along Santa Monica Boulevard. This lot has been the site for productions like the original “West Side Story” and “Big Little Lies”. It has seven soundstages and 100,000 square feet of office space. Over the years, Howard Hughes, George Lucas, and Samuel Goldwyn have used the space. CIM Group has renovated the campus to add three modern office buildings and two parking structures.
CIM Group’s Blake Eckert, was in charge of the deal with additional representation by Jones Lang LaSalle brokers Nicole Mihalka and Hayley Blockley. CBRE brokers Pat Moody and Clay Hammerstein represented Miramax in the deal.
Under the leadership of CEO Jonathon Glickman, Miramax continues to produce films, including The Beekeeper, Strange Darling, and The Holdovers. The studio is perhaps best known for being the studio that produced Quentin Tarantino’s films which kickstarted his career, and co-owner Harvey Weinstein’s fall from grace after his conviction on sexual assault and rape charges.
