Peaceful Saturday Interrupted By Conservative Provocation From Outside of LA
There were reports of a Trump caravan driving through West Hollywood, in the Rainbow District, on Saturday. An unknown number of cars drove down Hollywood Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard into Beverly Hills, flying flags, playing music, and honking their horns.
The caravan seems to have originated from a group called 805 Patriots. The 805 area code covers the cities of Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Ventura, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Los Alamos, Isla Vista, and San Luis Obispo, which means they are based in Ventura County. Camarillo is the city that is closest to Los Angeles, so it is not a group that is from Los Angeles itself. It was billed as a “MAGA Kingdom Hollywood Takeover” and a “victory lap.”
Their route started in Griffith Park and went through Hollywood to the Sunset Strip through West Hollywood’s Rainbow District on Santa Monica Boulevard into Beverly Hills. It all ended in Santa Monica on PCH.
One person who saw the caravan in West Hollywood said that they were called the homophobic F slur, according to WeHo Times, and added that the people in the trucks threw objects and yelled at people in the neighborhood. While this event was probably meant as a show of MAGA’s presence in a largely liberal city and liberal neighborhoods, it is clear that it does not originate from Los Angeles, no matter how they want it to appear.
