Supporters Join Gwen Walz at the Abbey Just a Few Days Before Election Day
Gwen Walz, the wife of Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, made an appearance in West Hollywood on Tuesday night at a fundraiser that generated over $100,000 for the Harris-Walz ticket, according to event co-chair Todd Hawkins.
Held at The Abbey, the “A Dance Party for Kamala With Mrs. Gwen Walz” event attracted many prominent supporters. Event chairs included actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband, political consultant Justin Mikita, along with The Abbey owner Tristan Schukraft, former U.S. ambassador to Spain and Andorra James Costos, human rights advocate Kimberly Mareau Emerson, Lance Bass and Michael Turchin, Niecy Nash Betts and Jessica Betts, producer Danny Rose, Jordan Brown, Rembrandt Flores, and fashion journalist Joe Zee.
Walz said, “As you’ve heard, we have one week until Election Day and that seems very hard to believe. I can see a little anxiety in your eyes but know this — I would rather be us than them.” as quoted by Variety.
Ticket prices ranged from $25 for general admission to $10,000 for co-chair packages, which included a photo opportunity with Walz before she addressed attendees.
Gwen Walz added, “And because we’re at The Abbey, let me just say everyone absolutely includes LGBTQ+ friends, family, and neighbors, too. But our opponents in this race see things a bit differently. Trump and Vance are not fighting for everyone. They are fighting for themselves and what they’re offering with that Project 2025 agenda, no one is asking for it.”
After her speech, Walz greeted attendees and posed for selfies with supporters in front of the stage.
