Judy Garland’s Teenage Bel-Air Estate Hits Market for $11.495 Million

“Wizard of Oz” Star’s Former Home Offers Piece of Hollywood History

A Bel-Air estate commissioned by Judy Garland during her teenage years has been listed for sale at $11.495 million, as reported by Mansion Global. The iconic “Wizard of Oz” actress had the home custom-built by California-based master architect Wallace Neff in 1938. At the time, Garland was merely 16 years old. She had just been cast in the role of Dorothy.

She reportedly lived with her mother at the property for nearly a decade. The residence, located in the esteemed Bel-Air neighborhood, is touted as a rare opportunity to own a piece of Hollywood history, according to the listing. Josh Flagg described the property as “very special” due to its notable pedigree and its former ownership by one of the world’s most famous stars, who is the agent handling the listing at Compass Realty.

The estate, sprawling across nearly 2.7 acres of manicured grounds, recently entered the market after meticulous restoration efforts. The over 5,500-square-foot residence features hardwood floors, charming storybook-style windows, and generously lit interiors.

A grand iron staircase welcomes visitors into the formal entryway, leading to various living areas. The house also includes a chef’s kitchen with a marble island, a breakfast nook, and direct access to the backyard. Additionally, the estate comprises five en-suite bedrooms, including a primary suite with a fireplace and dual walk-in closets.

Outside, the property boasts a brick-lined patio, an in-ground pool complete with a diving board, and a pool house. Nestled atop the grounds is an original writer’s cottage, meticulously restored to its former glory.
