City’s Human Rights Speakers Series to Feature Award-Winning Film, Discussion
The City of West Hollywood’s Human Rights Speakers Series is set to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the war and the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine with a special event.
The series will host a screening of the award-winning documentary film “Freedom on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom,” followed by a panel discussion featuring director/producer Evgeny Afineevsky and activist Anna Zaitseva, a survivor and protagonist of the film. “Freedom on Fire” showcases stark footage and exclusive interviews with individuals displaced by the enduring conflict, shedding light on the resilience and unity that prevail in Ukraine’s darkest hours.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the City of West Hollywood’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, located at 625 North San Vicente Boulevard, adjacent to the West Hollywood Library. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with opening remarks at 6:30 p.m., followed by the film screening and panel discussion.
