Iconic Duo in Focus: Indigo Girls’ Documentary Gets Nationwide Theatrical Release

Oscilloscope Laboratories Brings “It’s Only Life After All” to Theaters on April 10th

Oscilloscope Laboratories is set to host a special one-night-only theatrical release of “Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All,” Alexandria Bombach’s latest documentary, which showcases the remarkable journey of the iconic folk-rock duo. The film is scheduled to play in theaters across the country on Wednesday, April 10th, with an additional screening and live performance featuring the band in their hometown of Atlanta on Friday, March 29th. A digital release is also planned for May 7th. You can purchase tickets here

The film’s trailer was released today. You can watch it here:

It provides a glimpse into the documentary, which premiered on the opening night of the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The film has since been featured at various festivals, including SXSW, Hot Docs, Tribeca, and more.

Filmmaker Alexandria Bombach expressed her excitement about bringing the film to fans nationwide, stating, “Festival audiences have embraced and celebrated this story of Amy and Emily, and now we get to bring this film to fans in theaters all over the country. A film about community should be seen in the community.”

Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls shared, “From our earliest days at Little Five Points Community Pub in Atlanta, the ideal of ‘community’ has informed our music and activism. We feel blessed to have worked with such a compelling crew of folks who created a document that reflects the vital part our audience, activists, friends, family, and mentors play in our ongoing creative lives.”

Emily Saliers added, “It is a beautiful documentary that captures the life force of our community. Now our community has an opportunity to see it on the big screen—we are thankful for that.”

The documentary delves into the band’s four-decade-long musical journey, exploring their impact as musicians, songwriters, and dedicated activists. Despite battling misogyny, homophobia, and societal pressures, the Indigo Girls have become a symbol of radical self-acceptance for many, resonating across generations. Director Alexandria Bombach, a Sundance award-winner, interweaves present-day interviews with Amy and Emily alongside decades of the band’s home movies, providing an intimate and contemporary look into their lives.
