NWS Issues Urgent Warning – Take Precautions and Stay Informed

An emergency update was issued by the West Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. It states that West Hollywood residents should brace themselves as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Warning for our area. The safety of our community is paramount, and we urge everyone to remain vigilant, especially when driving through potentially flooded streets. If possible, stay indoors to ensure your safety.

In case of emergencies, dial 9-1-1 immediately. Here are essential steps to prioritize your safety during this alert:

Assess Flood Risks at Home: Evaluate potential flood risks at your residence and take necessary precautions.

Secure Outdoor Items: Bring outdoor items indoors or anchor them to prevent them from being blown away.

Drive Carefully: Exercise caution while driving and avoid flooded streets.

Check on Neighbors: Look out for your neighbors, especially the elderly and those with limited mobility.

Bring Pets Indoors: Ensure the safety of your pets by bringing them indoors.

Charge Devices and Prepare for Power Outages: Fully charge medical devices and cell phones. Prepare backup systems for potential power outages.

Clear Storm Drains: Ensure storm drains in your area are free of debris to prevent blockages.

Prepare an Emergency Kit: Have an emergency kit ready with essential supplies.
