Anti-LGBTQ+ Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert Thrown Out of Family Friendly Beetlejuice Musical

Boebert Was Ejected For Allegedly Vaping, Photography and Causing a Disturbance

By Dolores Quintana

Rep. Lauren Boebert, the Colorado Republican who was ejected from a performance of the musical “Beetlejuice” last weekend due to disruptive behavior, has issued an apology for her actions, acknowledging that she “fell short of my values.”

The representative has regularly used anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric on social media, making claims that gender-affirming care and using LGBTQ+ flashcards is “grooming” and that parents should take their children to church and not “drag bars.” The representative also sent out a tweet stating, “Sending a message to all the drag queens out there: stay away from the children in Colorado’s Third District!”

The irony is that Boebert’s date, a man reportedly named Quinn Gallagher, is a Democrat who owns a bar that hosts drag shows.

In response to widely circulated surveillance footage that seemed to depict her vaping inside the Denver theater, Boebert’s apology was reported by several media outlets. She expressed remorse, stating, “The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I’m truly sorry for the unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community.” She continued, “While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did, and I regret that.”

An incident report from the Buell Theater, reported on by the Denver Post, documented that two unidentified patrons had lodged “three different complaints” against Boebert and her companion, accusing them of vaping, singing, and causing a disturbance during the performance.

Subsequently, when asked to leave the venue, Boebert and her date reportedly refused and allegedly made statements such as “Do you know who I am?” The newly released surveillance video also appeared to capture Boebert and her male companion engaging in sexualized groping and fondling while seated next to each other in the theater.

Boebert’s campaign, she is running for reelection, has not responded to inquiries from several media outlets after the release of the video showing the pair’s highly inappropriate behavior, although her office did originally try to downplay the seriousness of the allegations and deny that Boebert was vaping inside the theater and taking photos, neither of which are allowed. Boebert’s rep claimed that she didn’t know photography was not allowed.
