In partnership with the Art Theatre, 29th Annual film festival is happening now

Dozens of features and short films are being showcased at the 29th Annual QFilms Long Beach festival hosted by the LGBTQ Center.
In partnership with the Art Theatre, the festival will run from Sept. 8 to Sept. 11 and screen “Bros,” co-written by and starring comedian Billy Eichner. The Universal Pictures film is the first major studio romantic comedy about two gay men, scheduled to close the festival at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
“While special interest groups try to legislate our existence away, it is more important now than ever to see representations of our LGBTQ+ lives on screen,” stated Carlos Torres, the Center’s executive director, in a release. “‘Bros’ and its entirely LGBTQ+ cast is a monumental shift in how our lives are portrayed and we are proud to bring it to our supporters. The QFilms lineup this year is our best yet.”
“QFilms is not only a great way to see movies from around the world and meet some new friends,” Torres said. “but a fun way to support programs for the LGBTQ+ community.”
Tickets start at $14 for individual screenings up to VIP all-access passes, which are $130 including entry to every film, the opening night party, the ice cream social and Sunday brunch.
Proof of vaccination is required for entry.
