Robert De Niro Voices Support for Daughter Airyn After She Comes Out as Transgender

The Oscar-Winning Actor Says His Love for His Children Remains Unwavering

Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro has publicly voiced his support for his daughter Airyn De Niro, who recently came out as transgender.

“I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter,” De Niro said in a statement to Variety. “I don’t know what the big deal is.”

He added, “I love all my children.”

Airyn De Niro, one of the actor’s seven children, discussed her transition and personal journey in a recent interview with Them. In the conversation, she reflected on growing up in a high-profile family and the process of embracing her identity.

“Trans women being honest and open, especially [in] public spaces like social media, and getting to see them in their success. I’m like, ‘You know what? Maybe it’s not too late for me,” she said in the interview, adding that she was inspired by trailblazers like actress and activist Laverne Cox.

Following the release of the article, Airyn took to Instagram to thank supporters and express gratitude for the positive response she received.

Robert De Niro, 80, is widely regarded as one of the most respected actors of his generation. He has often kept details of his personal life private but made it clear that his children, including Airyn, have his full support.
