Unlock the Secrets of Impressionism and Ancient Thrace with Getty’s Free Talks

The Getty’s Lineup of Free Online Art Talks Opens Doors for Global Audiences.

The Getty Center will host a series of free public programs this spring that explore topics ranging from Impressionist painting to ancient archaeology, with most events available both in-person and online to accommodate global audiences.

The programming includes art-focused lectures and discussions featuring scholars, curators, and experts. Audiences can attend in person at the Getty Center or tune in virtually via Zoom. Registration is required for all events. While admission is free, parking at the Getty Center incurs a separate fee.

On Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m., the Getty will present “Framing Young Man at His Window: A Closer Look,” an in-depth discussion of a notable Impressionist work. The lecture, held in the Museum Lecture Hall, provides insight into the historical and artistic significance of the piece. Tickets must be reserved in advance and serve as both admission to the event and entry to the Getty Center. You can register here

To watch online, register via Zoom

The following day, Monday, April 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Getty will present “The New Archaeology of Ancient Thrace,” a talk that explores recent archaeological discoveries in the region historically known as Thrace, which spans parts of modern-day Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey. This session will be conducted online, and registration is free via Zoom here.
