“Trans Liberation Now!” Aims to Empower Voices and Mobilize Communities
The Los Angeles LGBT Center, in partnership with TransLatin@ Coalition, Equality California, and Advocates for Trans Equality, will host Trans Liberation Now!, a large-scale rally aimed at celebrating, empowering, and advocating for transgender rights and visibility. The event will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Anita May Rosenstein Campus in Hollywood.
Positioned as both a local mobilization and a catalyst for a nationwide movement, the rally invites peer organizations across the country to hold parallel demonstrations in solidarity with the transgender, nonbinary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming (TGNBI+) community.
With over 700 anti-trans bills currently under consideration in state legislatures across the U.S.—a number expected to grow—the rally seeks to push back against what organizers describe as an unprecedented wave of legislative attacks fueled by the Trump administration’s rhetoric. The event will feature speeches, advocacy tools, and a resource fair, providing attendees with tangible ways to take action in their communities.
Joe Hollendoner, CEO of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, emphasized the urgent need for mobilization.
“The Los Angeles LGBT Center is proud to stand with our trans community in demanding nothing less than justice, protection, and full equality,” Hollendoner said. “At a moment when the political scapegoating and legislative attacks against transgender people have reached the highest levels of government, we refuse to be silent. Trans Liberation Now! is a call to arms—a declaration that we will fight for the rights, dignity, and very existence of TGNBI+ people.”
Organizers have outlined four primary objectives for Trans Liberation Now!:
- Empowering trans voices and visibility
- Mobilizing communities to protect trans rights
- Standing in solidarity for trans liberation
- Combating anti-trans policies and supporting protective legislation
In addition to speeches and advocacy calls to action, the event will host a TGNBI+ Resource Fair, connecting attendees with local organizations that provide healthcare, legal aid, and social services tailored to the trans community.
The rally is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP at lalgbtcenter.org/TransLiberation.
