Officials to Address Recent Rise in Coyote Sightings in City Streets
The City of West Hollywood will hold a virtual meeting on December 18, to address recent coyote sightings in the area and educate residents on coexistence strategies. The session, part of the city’s Coyote Management and Coexistence Plan adopted in 2018, will take place via Zoom from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The meeting will feature representatives from the Los Angeles County Department of Agriculture and West Hollywood’s Neighborhood and Business Safety Division. These officials will provide information on coyote behavior, discuss why sightings occur, and offer practical advice on how to respond to encounters with the animals.
Coyotes, typically reclusive by nature, have adapted to urban and suburban environments, where they may find easy food sources and fewer natural threats. This can lead to increased visibility in neighborhoods and public spaces, raising concerns among residents.
Community members are encouraged to attend the virtual meeting, which is free and open to the public. Participants can join the discussion directly via the Zoom link: Coyote Management and Coexistence Meeting.
