Vampiro Tacos, Bone Marrow, and “Koreano” Tacos to Spice Up Weho’s Taco Scene
Guac Daddy, a new taqueria from Joshua Pourgol, of Tu Madre, will open a second location at 7401 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, as reported by What Now Los Angeles. This taco spot will share the area with Astro Burger, Breakfast by Salt’s Cure, and Galanga Thai Fusion.
The secret was unearthed through the filing of an alcohol license with the California State Department of Alcoholic License Control. There has been no announcement of the opening date of the restaurant.
The Los Feliz location, the first of its kind, uses the catchphrase, “less talk, more guac,” and serves food more in line with traditional Mexican dishes from Mexico City, DF. Vampiro tacos, bebidas (snacks), champinones (mushroom) tacos, using the Spanish names for the dishes. It seems successful with the residents of the area who enjoy the food, especially the attendees of the Los Feliz Three, which is next door.
One fusion style filling, that differs slightly from the taco stand’s aesthetic, is the Koreanos tacos and quesadillas, filled with thin slices of sirloin marinated in soy sauce and garlic. The spot also gives the option of adding bone marrow to items. Pourgol reportedly launched GuacDaddy in Los Feliz space that formerly housed his other Mexican restaurant, Tu Madre, because he felt Tu Madre was not authentically Mexican enough.
