The West Hollywood Library Hosts a Week Full of Programs for All Ages

Enjoy Movie Screenings, Spooky Kids’ Activities, and Wellness Clinics,

The West Hollywood Library is offering a variety of programs for all age groups this week, ranging from film screenings to children’s activities and health clinics. Since it is spooky season, the library does have a Halloween-themed activity for kids. It is easy to register for these events online

On Monday, October 21, the library will host Smarty Movie Monday, a screening of The Contender from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the meeting room. The R-rated political drama, starring Gary Oldman, Joan Allen, Jeff Bridges, and Christian Slater, is open to adults 18 and older.

For children, Activity Hour: Aah! More Monsters! will take place on Tuesday, October 22, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kids will explore monster-themed crafts and activities.

Smarty Pants Storytime, designed for toddlers and preschoolers, will be held on Wednesday, October 23, from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The session aims to boost early literacy skills through books, songs, and rhymes and is geared toward children ages 2 to 5, accompanied by a caregiver.

In response to rising opioid-related overdoses, the library will offer Naloxone (Narcan) Clinics on Wednesday, October 23, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free doses of the life-saving medication will be distributed in collaboration with Los Angeles County’s Department of Public Health.

Teens can participate in Teen Read Month: Teen Trivia on Wednesday, October 23, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Contestants will compete for prizes by answering questions about young adult books and library resources. The event is open to teens ages 13 to 17.

Adults who are looking for a creative outlet can join Colorful Fridays on October 25 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The hour-long coloring session is designed for older adults and adults, and supplies will be provided.

On Saturday, October 26, in celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month, the library will screen videos from Rainbopedia’s Storytellers Program, which shares stories from LGBTQ+ individuals. The event will run from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the meeting room and is open to adults.

Each event will be held at the West Hollywood Library, located at 625 N San Vicente Boulevard. The library offers opportunities for all ages to learn, create, and connect. For more information, visit the West Hollywood Library’s website or call (310) 652-5340.
