“Love Is an Action” Highlights Personal Stories From LGBTQ+ Seniors
The Los Angeles LGBT Center has launched a new public service announcement (PSA) urging the LGBTQ+ community and allies to vote in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, emphasizing the critical importance of supporting equal and civil rights.
Titled “Love Is an Action,” the PSA features interviews with older adults from the Center’s Senior Services program, who share personal stories about the significance of voting. The narratives—ranging from humorous to heartfelt—highlight the experiences and wisdom of older LGBTQ+ individuals, offering insights that resonate across generations.
Joe Hollendoner, CEO of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, underscored the importance of the election, calling it a pivotal moment in the ongoing fight for equality. “This election is not just another political event; it will shape the future of our community and the broader fight for equality for years to come,” Hollendoner said. “Our PSA is a call to action, urging everyone to vote because the stakes are too high.”

The PSA was shot by renowned photographer and director Maxwell Poth, known for his black-and-white images of queer individuals. It covers various topics, including the personal impact of elections and the critical nature of the 2024 presidential race.
