All are Invited to learn about participating in the 2025 ‘Art in Odd Places’ festival
The City of West Hollywood is inviting community members, artists, and local businesses to participate in a series of free workshops as part of the upcoming Art in Odd Places public art festival, set for 2025. The workshops, led by renowned artist and curator Ed Woodham, will provide insight into the festival and how participants can get involved in the citywide event.
Workshops will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the West Hollywood Park Aquatic and Recreation Center, 8750 El Tovar Place, and Friday, September 27, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Plummer Park Community Center, 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard.
Art in Odd Places presents visual and performance art in unexpected public spaces, aiming to foster diverse social interaction and the open exchange of ideas. Ed Woodham, a visual and performance artist with more than 45 years of experience, founded the festival to reclaim public spaces for art in New York City and beyond.
The workshops are part of the city’s broader “Art on the Outside” program, which features temporary public art installations such as sculptures, murals, and digital art throughout West Hollywood. Projects are typically displayed for six months to three years, with funding provided by the Public Beautification & Art Fund.
For additional information on participating in the workshops, community members are encouraged to contact Marcus Mitchell, the City of West Hollywood’s Public Art Administrator, at mmitchell@weho.org or (323) 848-3122.
