Authorities Manage Traffic as LA DWP Crews Repair 100-Foot High Water Spout
A water main break at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and North La Cienega Boulevard on Saturday, September 14, caused significant traffic disruptions in West Hollywood, according to city officials.
The break, reported by users on the Citizen app as a large flood impacting nearby streets, prompted a swift response from authorities. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was on the scene to manage traffic and ensure driver safety, while the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) began repairs.
In a social media post, the City of West Hollywood stated that traffic control measures were in place as repair crews worked to address the issue. LADWP later informed the public that water shut-offs affecting customers in the immediate and adjacent areas would last for at least five hours.
On Sunday, September 15, around 2:20 p.m., the City of West Hollywood provided an update confirming that repairs had been completed and water service was restored.
