Five-Month Celebration Featuring 60+ Exhibitions, Groundbreaking Public Programs
Getty has announced that the next edition of PST ART, a regional art initiative formerly known as Pacific Standard Time, will showcase a wide range of public programs throughout Southern California. Under the theme “Art & Science Collide,” the events will run from September 2024 for five months, featuring over 60 exhibitions from more than 800 artists.
The program includes cutting-edge performances, participatory art projects, and thought-provoking discussions, as well as large-scale public events such as a free outdoor family festival. These programs are organized by Getty, partner organizations, and local community groups, making PST ART one of the largest art projects in the U.S.
“These programs will lead audiences to new insights and encounters,” said Katherine E. Fleming, President and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust. “We’re proud to support our partners in delivering these vibrant and diverse events.”
Among the highlights is a three-day family festival in collaboration with Edinburgh Science, featuring workshops, performances, and interactive experiences designed for children and families. Dr. Simon Gage, CEO of Edinburgh Science, expressed excitement about the partnership, calling it an opportunity to unite artistic, scientific, and technological communities.

Getty has also awarded grants totaling $19 million to support public programs from institutions like Caltech, LACMA, The Music Center, and USC. Programs will range from space-themed art performances to workshops on climate change, with outreach extending across Los Angeles and beyond.
