Queer and Allied Athletes to Compete in Multi-Sport Event with Free Spectator Admission
The City of West Hollywood will host the OutLoud Sports Festival Dodgeball Tournament over Labor Day Weekend. The tournament is part of a four-day multi-sport festival happening across the region.
The dodgeball tournament will take place at the West Hollywood Park Aquatic and Recreation Center, located at 8750 El Tovar Place, next to the West Hollywood Library. Matches are scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free for spectators, and participants can register through the League Apps website.
On Saturday, the tournament will kick off with seven 12-minute matches to determine seeding across three divisions: Recreational, Advanced, and She/They Only. Sunday’s matches will be a single-elimination tournament, culminating in a Championship Match. Teams are allowed up to 13 players, with ten players on the court at a time.
OutLoud Sports, founded in 2007, is the nation’s first Queer recreational sports league, with over 65,000 Queer and allied athletes participating in year-round activities across the United States. The OutLoud Sports Festival includes tournaments in kickball, dodgeball, tennis, pickleball, soccer, sand volleyball, and bowling at various locations. Last year’s event, co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood, saw nearly 1,000 registered players.
