Potential Candidates Must File Nomination Papers by August 9
The nomination period for City Council candidates in West Hollywood begins on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 8 a.m., and ends on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 5 p.m., in accordance with the State Elections Code. Interested residents should contact the City Clerk’s office to schedule an appointment to receive nomination papers and review the requirements for becoming an official candidate.
To qualify, potential candidates must gather between 20 and 30 signatures from registered voters in West Hollywood. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, residents of West Hollywood, and registered voters within the city.
The upcoming General Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, will decide two City Council seats. Each council member serves a four-year term and is elected at large. Annually, council members select one of their own to serve as mayor for a year, beginning after the City Council reorganization.
