In-N-Out Has Raised Prices Again, But Is It Really About Minimum Wage?

Prices at the Southland Restaurant Chain Have Been Rising for Years

The prices at one of Southern California’s favorite burger places have risen again. According to the company, the increase is due to the state’s minimum wage being raised from $16.00 an hour to $20.00 an hour in April.

In-N-Out has raised prices of the double-double combo to $10.45, $8.65 for a cheeseburger combo, and $8.15 for a hamburger combo before tax.

However, prices have been rising steadily at the popular chain since 2020, when the price for a double-double combo was $8.59 after tax. In 2021, the price rose to $9.14, an increase of about fifty-five cents.

In 2022, the price of the double-double combo was raised to $10.07, an increase of ninety-three cents. As of early 2023, the price increased to $10.35, an increase of twenty-eight cents. Later, in 2023, around July, the price increased again to $10.68, another thirty-three cents.

As of earlier this week, the price of the double-double combo in West Los Angeles has increased to $11.44, another seventy-six cents. While the chain may have raised prices to raise the wages of their staff, their prices have slowly been rising for years.
