The devastating news that one of the two women who were brutally attacked and sexually assaulted in the Venice Canals on April 6 has been declared brain dead came to light on Monday afternoon. Matthew Seedorff, reporter at Fox 11 News confirmed this in a post on his social media profile on Twitter

He said, “Breaking: The second victim from last month’s violent attacks on the Venice canals has been declared brain dead. A close family friend tells me the woman is an organ donor and currently on life-support. The other victim has been in and out of the hospital.”

The name of the second victim has not been disclosed at this time. We will update the story as it develops. We reported on the capture of the suspect, Anthony Francisco Jones, on April 15 and the charges filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney the next day.
CD 11 City Councilmember Traci Park, released a statement, via email, which said, “I am devastated to receive this news about the victim in the horrific Venice Canals attack. My prayers are with her family in this moment of loss and I want to extend my condolences on behalf of the entire Venice and Westside communities.
