Join Chef Rashida Holmes for a One-Night-Only Caribbean Feast at Connie & Ted’s

Six-Course Culinary Collaboration Highlighting Afro-Caribbean Flavors on May 30

As summer approaches, Angelenos are invited to a unique culinary event at West Hollywood’s Connie & Ted’s. On Thursday, May 30, Chef & Owner Rashida Holmes of Bridgetown Roti, a recent 2024 James Beard Award semifinalist, will join the restaurant for a one-night-only dinner as part of its ongoing collaborative dinner series. This event pays homage to the city’s rich culinary heritage and highlights its culinary excellence.

Chef Rashida Holmes, renowned for her West Indian pop-up Bridgetown Roti, has been praised as Eater’s 2021 Best New Restaurant in Los Angeles and Pop-Up of the Year by Esquire. Holmes’ Afro-Caribbean inspired dishes have received accolades from The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Bon Appétit, and The Wall Street Journal.

Ahead of Bridgetown Roti’s highly anticipated brick-and-mortar debut in L.A. this summer, Holmes will collaborate with Connie & Ted’s to offer a preview of her culinary prowess. The exclusive six-course menu, crafted with Michelin-starred and James Beard award-winning chef-owner Michael Cimarusti and Executive Chef Sam Baxter, will merge Connie & Ted’s East Coast flavors with Holmes’ Afro-Caribbean influences. The evening will conclude with a seasonal cherry dessert from C&T’s Pastry Chef Daphane DeLone.

Highlights of the May 30 menu include:

  • Maine Sea Scallop Gratin with Nori Butter and Preserved Lemon
  • California Halibut with Cherry Blossom and Rhubarb
  • Plantain Panzanella with Charred Curry Leaf, Lime-Pepper Vinaigrette, Sweet Corn, Patty Pan, Fava Bean, Sungolds
  • Soft Shell Crab with Aloo Curry, Green Seasoning, Amaranth, Cilantro, Trout Roe
  • King Salmon with Morels and Magic Myrna Potatoes

Reservations for the dinner, priced at $125 per person, are available via OpenTable, with seatings from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Rashida Holmes is chef-owner of the Caribbean pop-up Bridgetown Roti, based in Los Angeles. Holmes’ experience with different cuisines, chefs, restaurants, and markets has given her a diverse perspective in this ever-evolving industry. After positions as executive sous chef at Freehand hotel and Botanica in Silverlake, Holmes’ began the pop-up concept Bridgetown Roti in 2019, an ode to her Afro-Caribbean roots. By fall of 2020 Chef Holmes and Bridgetown Roti had served thousands with her take on Caribbean classics. Today the pop-up has gained media coverage with features in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Bon Appetit, and The Wall Street Journal. In 2021 Bridgetown Roti was named Eater’s Best New Restaurant in Los Angeles, and Pop-up of the Year by Esquire magazine.
