Owner and community leader Roozbeh Farahanipour has launched a GoFundMe to help rebuild and reopen the restaurant and museum which is a tribute to Persian culture and veterans of the Gulf War. Farahanipour founded the Persian Gulf Museum and Restaurant after escaping from Iran and immigrating to the United States in 2000. He had been arrested and interrogated by Islamic Militias during the student protests in Iran in 1999. The leader of the Marze Por Gohar resistance party left his home before potentially being given a long prison sentence. Marze Por Gohar has been banned in Iran.

Farahanipour hopes to repair the damage and reopen the restaurant. He said in an emailed statement, “On April 23, 2024, a devastating fire tore through the Persian Gulf Restaurant Museum, causing extensive damage. Our hearts are broken, and many items are destroyed beyond repair.

While experts are still assessing the full extent of damages, our legal fees are extensive. We urgently need your support to reopen the Persian Gulf Restaurant Museum.”
