Save Time and File Reports Conveniently Through LASD’s Online System
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is making it easier for residents to report certain crimes and incidents online through its Sheriff’s Online Report Tracking System (SORTS).
The initiative, which aims to save time for both law enforcement and the public, allows individuals to file eligible reports quickly and conveniently from any web browser on their desktop or mobile phone.

Among the types of reports that can be filed through SORTS are:
- Lost or stolen cell phones valued at $950 or less
- Lost or stolen property valued at $950 or less
- Vandalism (excluding graffiti) with damages under $400
- Theft from an unlocked vehicle valued at $950 or less
- Theft from an open or unsecured area valued at $950 or less
- Supplemental loss reports (with an existing LASD report number)
Once submitted, individuals will receive a free copy of the approved report via email for their records.
It’s important to note that SORTS is not for emergencies. In case of an emergency, individuals should dial 9-1-1.
For non-emergencies or questions about SORTS eligibility, residents can contact the West Hollywood Station at 310-855-8850.
