Long Beach Council Also Approves Matching Donation To Long Beach Pride
The Long Beach City Council unanimously voted to approve the proclamation of the 40th anniversary of Long Beach Pride at a city council meeting in late June. Long Beach Pride’s official Facebook page said, “We are also immensely proud of our friend Tonya Martin, who represented us with grace and passion at the City Council meeting. Your unwavering support has made a significant impact on our journey. We are also grateful to Bob Crow, Co-Founder of Long Beach Pride, whose vision and dedication have brought us to this momentous 40th-anniversary milestone.”
The Council also approved a matching donation from the City to support the Long Beach Pride Parade. Long Beach Pride responded, “We are overwhelmed with gratitude! Last week, City Council bestowed us with wonderful accolades, acknowledging our efforts in making Long Beach Pride truly special. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Councilwoman Suely Saro, Vice Mayor Cindy Allen, and Councilwoman Megan Kerr for their generous sponsored donations that have helped us raise over $40,000 for our upcoming festival”
It was truly a joyous occasion for everyone to see the City government’s support of Long Beach Pride. Their social media post added, “As we celebrate this incredible achievement, we remain committed to fostering inclusivity, love, and acceptance within our community. Long Beach Pride stands tall, and it’s all thanks to each and every one of you who make this event a true celebration of diversity and unity.”
Long Beach Pride will open this weekend to honor the history of LGBTQ+ pride and inclusion in the City of Long Beach and in Southern California.
