Changüí Majadero and DJ Jedi to Perform at Summer Sounds Concert in West Hollywood

Postponed Concert From August 20 Rescheduled To Sunday, August 27

The vibrant rhythms of Afro-Cuban music fused with the eclectic sounds of a world-renowned DJ will come together for an unforgettable performance on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 4 PM, at Plummer Park. In partnership with Grand Performances and supported by an arts grant from the City of West Hollywood, this event promises an exhilarating musical experience. This is the Summer Sounds concert that was originally scheduled for August 20 but was postponed by the arrival of Tropical Storm Hilary and has been rescheduled to Sunday, August 27.

Changüí Majadero: Hailing from Los Angeles, Changüí Majadero is a musical ensemble that seamlessly melds traditional Afro-Cuban music with contemporary influences, creating a distinctive and captivating sound. This band, comprised of exceptionally skilled musicians, infuses their performances with infectious rhythms, intricate melodies, and a spirit of improvisation. They have been at the forefront of the West Coast’s Latin music scene, gracing festivals, clubs, and cultural events across the United States.

DJ Jedi: An Emmy Award-winning DJ based in Los Angeles, DJ Jedi is celebrated for his genre-defying mixing style, impeccable track selection, and remarkable turntablism. His musical journey has taken him worldwide, serving as the resident maestro for a Tony Award-winning Broadway production, collaborating with Grammy Award-winning hip-hop pioneers Digable Planets, and contributing as a recurring member of DAKAH, a 50-piece hip-hop orchestra. 

Jedi’s influence extends to his role as a co-founder and resident DJ at Motown On Mondays, Los Angeles, and his contribution to numerous long-running weekly dance parties throughout the city. His commitment to the musical community is also evident through his instrumental role in establishing and nurturing the DJ/Production program at Musicians’ Institute in Hollywood, CA, since 2014.
