The Los Angeles Unified School District is giving schools and teachers a monthly calendar that promotes and supports resources for queer students and celebrates pride year round.
Called the Queer and Trans-Affirming School Calendar, the two-page document was published by the Human Relations, Diversity, and Equity office.
In August, the office called on educators to support students in starting a Gender and Sexualities Alliance (GSA) or Rainbow Club.
This month, educators should prep for next month’s Solidarity Week and teach LGBT-inclusive curriculum all year. In October, which is LGBT History Month, the calendar reminds educators to attend the district’s Standing with LGBTQ+ Students Conference from Oct. 11-15.
