6 Tips For Looking & Feeling Your Best

With so much going on in the country and world these days, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and not like your usual self. From crisis fatigue, decision fatigue, and realizing that self-care is essential, not indulgent, we have to literally carve time out of our days to make time to feel our best if we’re feeling stuck in a rut and looking for ways to give ourselves a bit of a confidence boost and start looking and feeling your best in this new normal, keep reading for some inspiration.

Get Out Of Town

With summer in full swing, you may already have a vacation on the books, but if you don’t, let this be your sign to plan one. Did you know that people who take regular vacations are healthier than their non-vacationing counterparts? Studies show those who make time to get away are at significantly lower risk for heart disease, stroke, and mental health issues. Take control of your health by getting out of town for the weekend or even a week.

Massage Therapy

We hold a lot of tension in our bodies. Stress, poor posture, and many other factors can make our bodies literal balls of stress. Booking yourself a massage with a licensed massage therapist can do wonders for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Work It Out

Another quick way to start looking and feeling great is by ensuring you get enough physical exercise. The key to getting enough exercise is finding a form of fitness you enjoy. Whether it’s something like high-intensity cardio or more relaxed like yoga, you’re more likely to stick with the routine when you find something you enjoy doing. Exercise boosts important chemicals in your brain for your emotional well-being and helps you shed weight which could be causing metabolic health issues.

Greet The Day

A small step to boost your mental health is to try and greet the day every day. Ways to do this are making your bed every day, practicing important grooming habits, and wearing outfits that make you look great and feel confident. Pay attention to your nails, skin, and hair because when you look good, you feel good. Don’t forget to spritz on your favorite perfume or cologne for men before walking out the door. How you smell is the cherry on top of being polished. When we prioritize looking our best, we’re more likely to have an optimistic and energetic mood each day.

Treat Yourself!

Even if you’re a devout minimalist, it’s okay to treat yourself sometimes! You work hard for your money, and life is full of responsibilities that can make you feel like you’re sometimes burning the candle at both ends. Treat yourself to something you’ve been wanting for a while when you’re feeling stressed from everything going on. Treating yourself doesn’t have to be on material items either – going out for a decadent dessert, investing in an experience like bungee jumping, or even an escape room. Spend money on something you normally wouldn’t! It’s good for the soul.

Beauty Sleep

Something free and easy to do to look and feel your best is make sure you get plenty of deep, restorative sleep. If falling and staying asleep doesn’t come easily to you, curate a relaxing nighttime routine that involves herbal teas, unplugging from television and cell phones, and a relaxing bath. If you’re still struggling with sleep, check in with your GP to see if you need some help through supplements or medication. Getting enough sleep has serious benefits to your mental health and your physical health as well. Another bonus of getting enough sleep is how it shows in your physical appearance. From helping your metabolism, reducing dark circles under your eyes, and even benefitting your skin health, sleeping enough each night only brings positive things.

Taking care of yourself to look and feel your best will include other things that are personal to your age, lifestyle, and other factors. The above-mentioned items are a great starting point for everyone, no matter where they are in life. By prioritizing proper grooming habits, enough sleep, exercise, and more, you’ll be looking and feeling great in no time. Here’s to your health!
