Great Autos car club got a chance to show off its Rainbow Car Show to the Marina Pacifica parking lot on Sunday, Sept. 19.
According to director Dave Weisbart, the event is the largest LGBTQ car show on the West Coast, featuring nearly 100 vintage cars organized by color. The display was open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and admission was free.
The first 400 visitors received discount coupons and promotions from Marina Pacifica restaurants and merchants.
“The beauty of the club is that we accept any make, model or year of car,” Weisbart said in an email. “In fact, you don’t even need to own a car to join, you just have to appreciate them. Our members are from the LGBT+ community as well as our straight friends and allies.”
Great Autos is affiliated with other LGBTQ car clubs, including a Northern California one called the Freewheelers, with a four-day combined show in Central California. The largest Southern California show is the Casual Cancours in Palm Springs, in conjunction with Modernism Week there.
The show at Marina Pacifica was the first in-person event since the coronavirus pandemic shutdown.
