28-year old art star Jonathan Lyndon Chase’s first major LA solo exhibition, titled Sheets, will open this Friday, June 1 at Kohn Gallery and will stay on view until July 14, 2018. An opening party will be held on Friday, June 1 from 7pm to 10pm at the gallery located at 1227 North Highland Avenue.
For this exhibition, Chase will examine life as a queer, non-binary member of the black community through his paintings and works on paper of contorted, sexually-explicit figured based on his personal, day-to-day experiences and struggles with identity and gender politics. Jonathan is really pushing the envelope and putting queer sexuality in front of the art world unlike any artist I’ve seen— his recent solo exhibition in NYC completed sold out within days of opening.
