L.A. LGBT Center Will Build LGBTQ+ Senior Housing Campus By 2019

As of 2019, L.A.’s Senior LGBTQ+ community will have a permanent home in Hollywood.

Yesterday, L.A. City Council approved a budget of 4.9 million to go directly toward building the L.A. LGBT Center’s Anita May Rosenstein Campus on Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood. The campus will house up to 100 units of reserved housing for senior LGBTQ+ citizens, and is set for completion by early 2019.

“Today, we’ve crossed a major threshold making this affordable housing project a reality,” said L.A. Councilmember David Ryu after the funding was approved. “Los Angeles is facing an unprecedented housing and homelessness crisis. I’m proud to see City Council invest this money in a solution – and bring this project that much closer to providing homes and changing lives.”

Councilmember Ryu also helped pass a measure to allocate funding to dedicated youth housing in early November. The Anita May Rosenstein Campus will also provide housing and beds for LGBTQ+ youth at risk of homelessness.
